are the center of my life and have given my much laughter
and joy. I work at a Winn Dixie

passes too fast. I enjoy being

Beach) and in the winter I love to visit my sister in Colorado to snow ski. Life is good.

to my son. When he said "look mom" that lady at the register
looks like YOU. I took
a good long look at the lady, She turned and noticed me gazzing at her. When we looked at eachother we acted like
two silly school girls screaming and yelling, jumping cring
OH MY God Its YOU!! My son thought I had lost my mind....It was my Best-Friend for 6 years

Graduated from VSC in 1984
and went to work for the federal government where I've worked for 24 years as
a caseworker in the federal prison system.
That's the boring part. During that time, I became a skydiving instructor,
mountaineer, catamaran sailor, rock climber, backpacker, pilot,
and really bad bass fisherman. The
wife and I still do all that stuff and are getting ready
to retire in order to have fun full time. We already raised our kids (four) who are all
gone and are reasonably successful.
Thank God that's over. Anyway, I'd love to hear
from any friends or classmates.

In the fall of 1979, I
enrolled at Valdosta State College.
In March of 1983, I received my B.S. in Education (Major:
Business Education). I left Valdosta in the fall of 1983 to begin
my teaching career in Edison,
GA at Calhoun County High School. It
was an educational experience for me. The school had grades 6-12 and separate proms--black
and white. Students could only attend
classes and play sports together. All
dances were segregated. I observed
a neighbor as she made soap in black pot.
In 1986, I returned to Valdosta State College
and earned a Master's Degree and Education Specialist Degree while teaching at Quitman
Primary (Brooks County). In 1989,
I was offered a position in the Business Department
at Lowndes High. For the past
18 years, I have been a business teacher at LHS.
Currently, I am the CBE (formerly called VOT) Coordinator and
FBLA Adviser. I am very blessed to live in Valdosta close
to my parents who are still married after 45 years.
In 2005, I attended the funeral of two of our classmates--Carol
Jenkins and Marvin Jones.
Carol and Marvin were not only my classmates, they were also my neighbors and playmates
in the Jaycee Shack Road community.
It was good to read your updates. I probably have the longest one.

____________________________ Mona Lisa Jarvis [Thomas] Picture ljarvis@lowndes.k12.ga.us
My childhood heart throb
and husband of twenty-one years, jokingly teases every hunk that turns my head is either
four foot ten, queer, or useless. I told him I’d only leave him for Sty Stallone, Javier Lopez or John F. Kennedy,
Jr. So he has managed to discredit
Rocky, send Javey to the
abyss of the American League, and pray JFK right on out of this world. But I think my all time crush, Howie Long,
could take him! Until that opportunity presents itself, I will
continue to cuddle up to Eric, who captured my heart the first time
I saw him in his little league
football uniform. He is the greatest gift and companion that God could have blessed
me with (besides Christ) and our three children. My Irish triplets have all left the nest.
This is a term coined by my mom for
kids that are only 9 and
10 months apart in age. My
youngest son, Jacob, was selected to the Georgia High School All STAR baseball team.
He was the starting catcher as they competed and won the High School World Series in
Oklahoma. My daughter, Jade, has been the starting third baseman on UGA’s softball
team since her freshman year, while maintaining Dean’s List each semester. She recently had the privilege of playing against the USA Olympic
Team. My oldest, Jarrod,
is in his second year of college compliments of the Hope scholarship. He works approximately
30 hours a week at Roadway; in addition to taking a full course load, so he
can maintain his own bills and apartment. When he opens his wallet containing twenty
dollars (which must last him
another week until payday) and drops a ten into the offering
plate on Sunday morning, I have to wonder....did he inherit my poor mathematical skills in calculating the 10%
tithe or did I raise a fine young man who trusts the Lord to meet
his needs? I am proud to acknowledge he has strong work ethics, a wonderful heart and caring
spirit, as do his siblings. I’ve
won the coveted Teacher of the Year Award on more than
one occasion. However, nothing epitomizes my career accomplishments quite like
the comment I overheard by a first grader
I taught. He told his friends, “Mrs. Jarvis loves me so much she wants
to keep me another year and I’m gonna let her!” Preserving a child’s self worth is
more valuable than any plaque on the wall. I am self professed “work- a- holic” and my husband
can attest. Teaching is not 8 to 4, if you do it right it’s 24-7.
Have you ever seen the refrigerator magnets “housework makes you ugly?” Well, teaching can
make you that way too, if you’re not careful. Like the Marine slogan, “It’s the hardest
job you’ll ever love,” it completely consumes my life during the school term. My goal before the 30th reunion is to come a
lady of leisure. My dream job....to be the Walmart
Greeter or a Pro-Cellulite Lobbyist! I’m not much on becoming a Botox Babe. My platform
would be “You got wrinkles? Eat enough to fill them out!” Maintaining this charade
of tight tush, tiny waist, and perky peaks is to difficult to maintain. And this is experience
speaking! I hit forty and had to have bifocals, a hysterectomy, and varicose
veins removed; goodbye to youth and immortal beauty. However, my gal pal and
cheerleading comrade, Denise, ushered in this milestone birthday with a tan and
rock hard abs, tattoo, belly button ring and topless romp in Canada. WOW....life really
isn’t fair! In closing, read the best seller “The Purpose Driven Life” it will take you
on remarkable journey.

Dwain and I married in
November 1985. We lived in Colorado
Springs until November 1988 and then moved back to Valdosta. Dwain graduated from VSU in March 1996 and we
then moved to Jacksonville,
FL where we still reside. In
August 2000 we adopted a beautiful little girl.
When she was 2 days old she came home from the hospital with
us. I quit working to be a stay
at home mom. Ginny has truly
blessed our lives. As far as
I was concerned, she was
going to be an only child, however, God has other plans. I am pregnant and due in April
2003. Now that I am over the
shock, I am very excited. Dwain
of course has been excited
from the start.

After graduation I married
Lane Matthews and moved to South Florida where we lived until 1988. We have 3 beautiful children together (September
28, Crystal 27, and Zane 20) Unfortunately, that was
the only thing RIGHT we did together. Our high school love affair ended, but we remain friends
today. I returned to God's Country
(Hahira, GA) to raise my children in a small town.
I remarried in 1999 to a wonderful man (William) We have 2 beautiful grandchildren
Ashtyn (3) and Adlee (1). I went
back to college at VSU at the age of 34 where I spent the next 10 years working
on my under grad degree in business management while working
full time and raising my children alone. I graduated Magna Cum Lauda in 2005 (Who
woulda thunk it?) I was the office manager at Urological Clinic of Valdosta for 13 years until I finally made a
change and moved into Psychiatry, where I am now the practice manager at Valdosta Psychiatric
Associates. God has blessed me completely with a wonderful
family, fabulous friends, a fun career, and an appreciation for it all. My favorite thing to do is spend time with
my grandchildren, watching with new-found
amazement at the little
things that build us up makes us who we are.

I married Mark Kozma in
1981. We have 3 children, Christy,
Kelly, and Jared; and 2 grandchildren, Madison
and Ansley. Mark was in the Air
Force and we got transfered to McGuire AFB in NJ in 1986.
He's from PA so we lived in PA near his family while stationed at McGuire.
He got out of the Air Force and we moved to the Atlanta area
in 1989. We lived in Lawrenceville for 15 years and recently
moved to Snellville. I have worked for a marketing
company as a Contract Administrator (sort of like a paralegal) since 1989. Kelly attends South Gwinnett High School and
Jared is at Snellville Middle. He plays baseball for a
travel team (hoping for a scholarship!).
Kelly, well, she's just the sweetest girl I know.
My husband and I often wonder why God blessed us so wonderfully
with her. We are active members at Mount Zion Baptist
Church in Snellville. I am the
Children's Choir Coordinator
and am in the Adult choir. My
husband plays the guitar in the praise band.
I'm just enjoying life and waiting for the day that I can retire
and spend more time with my family.

After graduating I joined
the Navy and spent the next 8 years seeing the world (really!). I was married in 1988 and
separated from the Navy intending to move back down to Valdosta to finish up college,
however was offered a great job in Wash DC and ended up taking it. I worked in the DC area for a couple of years
and then moved just outside of San Francisco area where I worked for the Department
of the Navy. My ex-wife and I
had our first child (Christopher
- named after my deceased older Brother, class of 1977) while there and decided to move out of the hustle-bustle
of the Bay area and I ended up transferring with the Gov't down to
Tampa, Florida where I worked at US Central Command for several years. By the way, I work both in the Intelligence
and computer engineering fields. In
Tampa we had our second
child (Brandon) and soon after that I was hired by a firm in Plano, Texas. I had my third and final child (Alicia) while
in Texas. I still work for the
company, although we've
been through several buyouts over the past seven years. About five years ago I moved
from Texas to Virginia (where I now live) at the request of the Air
Force, and I work here
on Langley AFB engineering ground systems for the U-2, Global Hawk and Predator reconnaissance
platforms. I am extremely fortunate
to have maintained custody of my
three wonderful children (now 7, 10 and 12 years old).

After high school I attended
Valdosta State College and graduated with a business degree. I joined the Air Force and entered pilot training.
I flew for almost 10 years as both a T-38 Instructor Pilot and a C-141 Aircraft
Commander. After leaving the
Air Force I joined USAA, a company
that provides financial services to the military community. I am currently responsible for
the financial planning divison. I miss Valdosta and often think about the friends I made
in high school. I hope everyone
is doing well!

My Dad was in the service,
so i transferred to LHS in the summer of 1977, in time for my junior year, graduated
in 1979 with honors. Went to
VSC, but wasn't mature or disciplined enough to make the grade and dropped out. Made some bad decisions, rectified them and GTHOOD (got the hell
out of dodge) to Northwest arkansas in 1984.
with the encouragement and guidance
of my parents i Went back to school, earned a degree in cIS, and went to work for
a fortune 500 company in 1989. OK,
it was TCI, THE cable company. If you had TCI cable service in Georgia, Alabama,
florida, Louisiana, Missouri or extreme western Illinois
between 1992 and middle 1999, I was probably responsible for the databases that populated your channel cards, the channel alignments
inside the Cable Guide and the on-screen
channel alignments for both analog and digital cable services. The states and years varied somewhat as the
divisional structure changed, but that's the gist of it.
When aT&T "Merged" with!
TCI in 1999 they eliminated our office. Currently employed by State
agency in IT field. I have decided
that Civil Service is the Peter Principle in action.
Haven't been back to valdosta since leaving.
Transferred to southern louisiana in 1992.
Married in 1998, inherited 2 step-sons, currently 13 and 19.
Haven't touched a clarinet since graduation.
Haven't played chess in about 5 years, the last time was to beat my
husband's cocky then 14-year-old 4 games straight. He won't play me again. Took up TaeKwonDo in 1994 despite my bad ankle.
Earned a black belt. one dog, a 2-year-old purebred male akita.
Have hair to my knees--that refers to the hair on my head, not the hair
on my legs. that's all.

After graduating from Harvard
in 1983, I taught at Open Bible Christian School in 1984- 1985 and the Valwood School
(in Valdosta) from 1985-1989. We relocated to Nashville, TN, in 1989 so I could
enroll in the graduate program at Vanderbilt University; there I earned a Master's Degree
(1990) and PhD (1995) in u.S. History. Moved to suburban chicago in 1995 to take
a job as Professor of History at Trinity College, a small Christian
college. While at Trinity,
I published two U.S. history books (you can see them at amazon.com). I love academic
life and teaching, but the job proved too demanding on my time. I resigned my professor's
job in 1998 to return to rural tennesee and spend more time with my family. I'm
currently (today is 22 november 2001) pastoring a small church in rural Tennessee (about
an hour northeast of nashville) while working at a land surveying company. I'm married to
a woman with whom I attended college at harvard; we've been married now for 16 years.
Together we have five children (ranging in age from 15 to 3). My life today consists largely
of discharging pastoral duties at my church, preaching regularly, and trying to be a good father and husband .
. . . I haven't been back to Valdosta for many, Many years. I'd love
to hear from old friends and regret being away from valdosta for so long. In
August 2007, I joined the faculty at Patrick Henry College. PHC is a
Christian college and I serve as a full-time history professor.
We now live near Winchester, Virginia.

Hi my beloved classmates...believe
it or not! I just found this site. It has been a long journey over the last 30
years. Let me tell you about me!! I have 27 years of experience in education; seventeen of
those years were spent as a teacher in the areas of secondary and middle grades education.
Currently, I serve as an assistant principal at Pointe South Middle School. Serving in multiple positions has enabled me
to grow professionally and has provided me with many
opportunities to utilize my professional training to assist the administrative staff and
faculty in setting high priorities and expectations for continual school improvement. I received
a Doctor of Education (Ed. D) degree from Nova Southeastern University
in 2004, an Educational Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 2000, a Master’s
degree in Special Education from Florida State University in 1998, and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in
Special Education from Valdosta State University in 1983. I am most proud of my extensive research and
study in regards to the impact of after school
program for at-risk youth. My applied dissertation examined the efficacy of a youth development
after-school program for at risk students at Forest Park Middle School. The applied
dissertation was designed to provide a quality youth development after-school
program (YDAP) to at-risk middle school children who were otherwise unsupervised
after school hours. As most research findings indicate that After- school programs help kids
achieve in school and keep them safe and out of trouble while parents work. My personal
goal is to continue to advocate for children and to help develop and implement effective
programs for students in the Clayton County Public schools and in the Community. In addition,
I have extensive involvement in community organizations and activities. I live in the Metro Atlanta area with my son
Warren, who is a Junior at Georgia State University.
I am a member of World Changers Church international in College Park, Georgia.
Divorced two times over!!!

Since my last post in '99...
My daughter was born in Jan 2000. Emily Cole Wilson. Parenthood is not for sissies.
She's part angel-part demon child.. and how we're going to survive the teen years
is going to be nothing short of a miracle... but Papa has plenty in
his pocket- so we're covered.
It's now Jan 2009, and I'm going to school online to become certified as a teacher! Living in eastern NC, minutes from the beach.
Still trying to manage my time well.
Still working on being a "grown-up". Am discovering
horses... trying to learn how to
ride well. Only my mother is living at this time, just turned 80. I consider myself a film
buff. If you can't remember the
title, chances are you can tell me who was in it... and the
gist of the story... and I'll come up with it!
(Wish I could make a career based on the useless
data that I have in my brain!) Ha! Thankfully,
hubby landed a J-O-B with a steady paycheck
and bennies a year ago November with Actus Lend Lease. Thanks be to God. We live
comfortably, but not extravegantly.
Our debts are more than we'd like, but manageable...
and getting smaller everyday. At
48, my body does alot of negative talking to me...
but I'm working to reverse that situation. My motto this year is: Become Divine in '09!!!
If growth is a process... then baby, I'm still processing!
If I could pass on something positive
and fruitful to anyone who reads this, please check out a really neat podcast called
The God Journey. Google the phrase
and you'll find it. Really good stuff about fostering
real relationships with other people and with Father. Until we meet again!
